A Canadian company announced to the public its plan to mine metal from the sea bed.
Concerns over the high mining cost were raised but were later dismissed by the company's CEO. The ore from the seabed would be of higher purity and thus easier to extract when delivered and processed on the surface, said the company's CEO.
Metal will be the second type of raw material after oil mining to be extracted from the deep sea.
